Abstract

In the study, with the traditional vertical Bridgman method, 1 at.% Ho, x at.% Nd: BaY2F8 crystals (x = 0, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3) were grown and investigated. The monoclinic phase of Ho3+, Nd3+: BaY2F8 crystals was determined as C2/m space group with an X-ray diffractometer. In the fluorescence spectra, near-infrared radiation at 1.3 μm and 2.0 μm was obtained with optimal doping concentrations (1% Ho3+ and 2% Nd3+). In addition, the near infrareds radiation properties of Ho3+, Nd3+: BaY2F8 crystals and the fluorescence lifetime under the radiation at 1.3 μm and 2.0 μm were explored.
