Abstract

Abstract 1mol% Ho, x mol% Yb: BaY2F8 crystals (x = 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) were grown by using the micro pull-down method and studied. X-ray diffraction data reveal that Ho3+, Yb3+: BaY2F8 crystals are a pure monoclinic crystal system and the space group is C2/m. By analyzing the fluorescence spectrum, BaY2F8 crystal with doped concentrations of 8 mol% Yb3+ and 1 mol% Ho3+ ions obtained the strongest radiation at 1.2 μm and 2.0 μm. The near-middle infrared radiation characteristics and fluorescence decay curves of the 1%Ho, x%Yb: BaY2F8 crystals are studied in detail at Yb3+: 2F5/2 and Ho3+: 5I7.
