Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of mind mapping applied to clinical teaching on the competency of registered nurses of nursing students. Methods Using the convenience sampling method, 182 internship nursing students in Grade 2012, Binzhou Medical University were selected as the object of study. They were devided into experimental and control group. The experimental group was intervened by clinical teaching model based on mind mapping, while the control group adopted the traditional clinical teaching model. A general condition questionaire and competency inventory for registered nurses (CIRN) were used to test the two groups. Results Factors such as urban and rural sources mainly affected registered nurses competency. The score of CIRN for experimental group was significantly higher than those of control group. Conclusions Clinical teaching model based on mind mapping helps to improve the registered nurses competency of nursing students.
