Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of experiential teaching in improving core competence of nurses in operating room. Methods From October 2016 to April 2017, by purposeful sampling, a total of 92 nurses from operating rooms in the 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University were selected and were divided according to random number table into experimental group and control group, each with 46 cases. Routine department business study was adopted to nurses in the control group, while experiential teaching was conducted to nurses in the experimental group. The Competency Inventory for Registered Nurse (CIRN) was used for assessment of nurses in the two groups. Results After the intervention, evaluated by the scale CIRN, total scores of the nurses in the experimental group and scores in dimensions of critical thinking and scientific research, clinical nursing, leadership, interpersonal relationship, professional development and educational consultation were all higher than those in the control group, The differences were statistically significant (P 0.05) . Conclusions Compared with conventional training methods, experiential teaching has a significant influence on improving core competence of nurses in the operating room, which makes it worth promoting.
