Abstract
Objective To explore the effects of long non-coding RNA (LncRNA) HOTAIR on malignant biological behaviors of esophageal carcinoma EC9706 cells. Methods LncRNA HOTAIR siRNA was transfected into the EC9706 cells.Methyl thiazol tetrazolium (MTT) assay, flow cytometry and Transwell chambers were used to examine the cell proliferation, apoptosis and the invasion ability, respectively. Results LncRNA HOTAIR siRNA significantly inhibited the cell proliferation, the growth inhibition rate (IR) was (45.35 ± 3.25) %,the invasion inhibiting rate was (51.6 ± 4.8) % for 72 h after transfection (P< 0.01); LncRNA HOTAIR siRNA promoted the cell apoptosis, the apoptosis rate was (37.80 ± 2.56) % for 24 h (P < 0.01).Conclusion LncRNA HOTAIR may play an important role in esophageal cancer cell proliferation, invasion and apoptosis, and can serve as an effective target for cancer gene therapy.
