Abstract
We report results of finite-lattice calculations of the effect of localized bond and spin perturbations on the ground state properties of the spin- 1 2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the square lattice. These perturbations are intended to model the effect of a static oxygen hole on the magnetic state of the CuO 2 planes in high temperature superconductors.
