Abstract

SUMMARYDuplicate callus cultures of Haplopappus gracilis (Nutt.) Gray were cultivated on agar B5 media containing 2 ppm 2,4-D or NAA with or without 0.1 ppm kinetin, or 2 ppm IAA with kinetin. The frequencies of polyploid cells and of anaphase anomalies were comparable in calli maintained on 2,4-D, NAA and NAA with kinetin, and in those cultured on 2,4-D and IAA with kinetin, which showed considerably higher frequencies of both than the other cultures. Kinetin interacted differentially with 2,4-D and NAA. It is concluded that at the concentration studied, 2,4-D did not produce more polyploids or anaphase anomalies than IAA or NAA.
