Abstract

We report on the effects of oxygen-doping and hydrostatic pressure on the vortex lattice melting (VLM) and the peak effect (PE) in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+y. Both oxygen-doping and hydrostatic pressure shift these phase boundaries towards higher fields. This change is understood by considering the fact that these processes reduce the anisotropy of the system. PE is found to show a non-monotonic temperature dependence in samples with small anisotropy.
