Abstract

In this study we investigated the hydriding-dehydriding cycling effect on electrochemical capacity, durability and P-C-T characteristics of Ca1−xLaxNi4.7Al0.3 alloys at 40°C, x = 0, 0.2 and 0.6 La-substituted alloys showed a smaller electrochemical capacity degradation than CaNi5 after 40 hydriding-dehydriding cycles at 40 °C. It was found that hydriding-dehydriding cycling at 40 °C non-crystallized the Ca2Ni7 phase through X-ray analysis. Compared with uncycled alloys, La-substituted Ca-based alloys showed better durability except for La-free CaNi4.7Al0.3.
