Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of happy imported therapy on improving life quality of elderly patients with depression.Methods A total of 114 inpatients were recruited for this study and randomly assigned into control group and observation group (n =53 in each group).While both groups were given routine psychiatric nursing,observation group was additionally given happy imported therapy,which refered to repeatedly importing happy to patients through conversation accompanied by recreational activities.Enjoyable things in patients'experiences were collected as happy factors.The levels of anxiety and depression(HAMA and HAMD scores)and life quality were evaluated in pre-and post-treatment respectively.Results After six-week therapy,scores of HAMA,HAMD and life quality of observation group differed significantly compared with control group(P < 0.05)and their life quality scores showed an obvious increase.Conclusions Happy factors imported therapy is an effective method of psychological intervention to improve the life quality of elderly patients with depression.
