Abstract

The effects of guiding filters on stretched-pulse transmission are analysed. It is shown that the filters can stabilise the pulse frequency as in the case of solitons, while the regularising effect on pulse energies is weaker for the stretched pulse. This is advantageous for sending line-monitoring signals by imposing low-index amplitude modulation on signal pulse trains.
