Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of gallnut made of vinegar ultrasound with sonophoresis on Shenque point in liver disease patients with night sweat. Methods A total of 60 liver disease inpatients with night sweat treated in Wuxi No.5 People's Hospital were recruited from February 2014 to February 2016. They were randomly divided into observation group (n=30, gallnut made of vinegar ultrasound with sonophoresis on Shenque point) and control group (n=30, acupoint Shenque application) . And then, we observed the improvement of symptoms on night sweat and the occurrence of adverse reactions along with comparing treatment effects between two groups. Results After one course of treatment, the symptom of sweating between two groups all improved at different levels. There were 28 patients in observation group and 22 patients in control group with significant efficiency with a significant difference between two groups (χ2=6.788, P<0.05) . There were 6 patients with itchy skin, two with skin lesions infection, one with allergic contact dermatitis in control group. However, there were three patients with itchy skin in observation group. The difference in rate of adverse reaction between two groups was significant (χ2=3.750, P<0.05) . Conclusions Acupoint Shenque application with gallnut has good effects in liver disease patients with night sweat. The application of sonophoresis can shorten the onset time with a low rate of adverse reaction. Key words: Shenque point; Sonophoresis; Gallnut; Night sweat
