Abstract

Objective to explore the effect of family education on disease control of the elderly patients with diabetes. Methods A total of 84 aged patients with diabetes were divided into interference group (46cases) and control group (38cases) randomly. The same health education performed in two groups while the interference group were added family education. Indicators including the blood sugar and glycosylated hemoglobin of admission and discharge within half-year, understanding their compliance behavior and hypoglycemia situation. Results In the compliance rate and target rate of glycosylated hemoglobin, the interference group was higher than the control group ( P < 0. 01 ) while in the hypoglycemia rate and retreatment rate,the interference group was lower than the control group (P < 0. 01 ). Conclusions Family education can raise the compliance rate of the elderly patients with diabetes, reduce the incidence of hypoglycemia and readmission rate.
