Abstract

The performances of two-way (i.e., reference-vehicle reference) communication systems, widely used in tracking, ranging, etc. of a space-craft, have been studied in this paper in the context of deep-space communication with milimetre wave or still higher frequency wave when the time variations of the propagation medium appreciably affects the channel behaviour. The analytical expressions of phase error variance of the locked systems in the ground as well as in vehicle have been evaluated. Experimental studies have been performed to examine the theoretical results.
