Abstract

The paper summarizes the theoretical basis for using collaborative learning activities in students’ speaking skills. The author surveyed 160 students who are studying the subject of General English 4 at the Academy of Policy and Development (APD) on applying collaborative learning activities in teaching and learning speaking skill. The research results have confirmed the role of collaborative learning activities in students’ speaking improvement: creating a happy learning atmosphere, promoting students' motivation; creating an environment to practice speaking skill while consolidating and developing vocabulary, ideas, and fluency for students.
