Abstract

This review sought to compare the efficacy of blood clots, Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP), and Platelet-rich Fibrin (PRF) in regenerative endodontic procedures. A systematic electronic search was conducted across major databases. The primary endpoints encompassed radiographic evidence of periapical healing, sustained root development, and root dentin thickening in studies with a follow-up duration of at least 6 months. Fourteen randomized controlled trials were encompassed within the analysis. Among these, five instances were documented as treatment failures, while the remaining studies exhibited complete resolution of symptoms across all three intervention groups. Meta-analysis was performed using failure rate data extracted from the selected studies, revealing no statistically significant discrepancies between the groups. Despite inherent limitations, the findings suggest comparable outcomes between the use of platelet concentrates as scaffolds and blood clots in the specified clinical context.
