Abstract

Objective To determine the effect of learning Biology using TPS type learning methods on class VIII student achievement MTs NW Korleko 2019/2020 Academic Year. This type of research is experimental research. Quasy Experimental Design design in the form of pre-test post-test control group design. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII MTs NW Korleko. The population in this study was VIII grade students consisting of 2 classes with 45 students. The sample in this study was class VIII A as an experimental class and class VIII B as a control class. The instruments in this research are 1). Learning implementation instruments consisting of syllabus and lesson plans and 2). Data collection instruments in the form of tests. Data analysis technique used in this research is statistical analysis using t-test. Data analysis achievements obtained the average value of the experimental class the number of scores obtained by the highest score of 10 and the lowest score was 4. And the calculation obtained an average value of mean (M) = 6.93 and standard deviation (SD) = 1.69. based on the categories intended for categorizing scores, if the average obtained above is Mean (M) = 6.93, the quality of student achievement for the experimental group is included in the high category. Whereas based on the data collected for the control group, the highest score is 9 and the lowest score is 3. And the calculation is obtained mean (M) = 5.5 with Standard Deviation (SD) = 1.87. Thus based on the scoring criteria can be made categorizing scores as follows: If the Mean Mean (M) obtained above is 5.5 then the quality of student achievement for control groups is included in the medium category. From the observation performance and analysis achievement, it was not obtained t count = 2.73 and t table with dk = n1 + n2 - 2 = 43, the price of t table was obtained = 1.68. Because t arithmetic> t table (2.73 <1.68) so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This shows that there is a positive and significant influence on the use of TPS type of cooperative learning in improving the learning achievement of VIII MTs NW Korleko students.
