Abstract

Results: The outcome of this project was the placement of a dedicated RT in the multidisciplinary RRPRC. Scope of clinical practice and protocols, that include guidelines on how to mark up metastatic disease in bones, lung and brain were developed. The need for advanced postgraduate palliative education was identified to improve the scope of duties the APRT could perform. This would need to include both a theoretical component and further onsite clinical training and mentorship by the RRPRC RO. Conclusions: The next phase of this project will be to validate the role of the APRT within the multidisciplinary team of the RRPRC. In doing this, a database has been developed to compare the time spent with a patient managed within in the RRPC to a palliative patient managed outside of the RRPC. In addition, the identification of the need for further education has initiated communication with Monash University in Melbourne, Australia to develop a specific post-graduate course in advanced practice palliative radiation therapy. Funding application results are pending. Author Disclosure: M. job: None.
