Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of different number C6 cell implanted to brainstem on rat survival time and tumor growth. Methods 30 Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups randomly, injected with 2×104( group A),1×106( group B) C6 glioma cells and physiological saline (group C) into rat brainstem respectively.1,2,3,4 weeks later rat signs, survival time, tumor size by MRI and pathology by H&E were compared. Results Group A emerged abnormality at day 16,but group B at day 9.Group A' s survival time was 30.80±3.002 days, group B was 19.65±2.277 days.Comparing with tumor size, group B was remarkably larger than group A (P<0.05).H&E showed no difference. Conclusions Both number of 2×104 and 1×106 C6 cells can make a tumor model, but more tumor cells injecting causes a earlier tumor formation and shorter survival time. Key words: Braiustem; Gliomas; Animal model; MRI; Survival time
