Abstract

Research on the additional material along with cement and as well as the for the filler material to act as the fine aggregate is gaining a wide scope and inclined to a various perspective view of the researchers. The present study, explains the need for metakaolin and marble powder to hypothetical with different mix combinations to observe the concrete strength and durability aspects by adding the along with cement and fine aggregates. In the present study, 10% of metakaolin is on a fixed ratio with respect to cement, and fine aggregates were replaced with 10%, 15%, and 20% for marble powder compared with the parental concrete. To get the fresh properties of concrete fresh density and workability of the concrete mixture were calculated. The nature of the concrete is tested by the basic mechanical test on the specimen is carried out and we also studied the water absorption and sorptivity test as per the ASTM standards. From the viewpoint of cement replacement with a combination of metakaolin and fine aggregates with marble powder, there was an increase in fresh density and a decrease in workability in the concrete mixes. It is observed that the mechanical properties of the concrete are justified by which cement was replaced with metakaolin and fine aggregates were replaced with marble powder correlating with the control mix. The test results also showed the reduction in the water absorption and sorptivity in different mixes in which cement was replaced with metakaolin and fine aggregates with marble powder. The optimal mix prepared by 10% substitution of cement with metakaolin and 20% substitution of fine aggregates with marble powder noticed a positive results in both the mechanical and the durability properties. From the results, it is concluded that metakaolin and marble powder can be effectively utilized in the conception on concrete.
