Abstract

Aluminium alloy 5052 has extensive usage of many fields such as army, marine and space activities. It was proved as excellent corrosion impervious property. But having less tensile strength. In order to improve that particular sort, some kind of reinforcements materials used to give a good strength to alloy metal. In this present work, AL-MMC was fabricated by fraternization of Zirconium dioxide and Alumina reinforcements into base Al-5052 Alloy. For making suitable sample, stir casting methodology was adopted. Totally 3 different samples by varying those reinforcements. The amount of ZrO2 reinforcement is fixed to 5 wt%, while the concentration of Al2O3 is varied from 2.5 wt% to 10 wt%. The prepared specimens were tested to know behaviour of materials properties (tensile test, impact test, flexural test). The observed results revealed that tensile properties tended to be improved by increasing ZrO2 and Al2O3.
