Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of Yiqi Huoxue Recipe and SOX chemotherapy on serum tumor markers, T lymphocyte subsets, and quality of life in patients with stage III-IV gastric cancer. Methods Sixty-eight patients with stage III-IV gastric cancer were enrolled in our hospital from January, 2018 to January 2019). They were divided into two groups according to the random number table, 34 cases for each group. The reference group were treated with SOX chemotherapy, and the experimental group with SOX chemotherapy and Yiqi Huoxue Recipe. The efficacy , adverse reactions, serum T lymphocyte subsets (CD8+, CD4+, and CD3+) before and after the treatment, serum levels of glycoprotein antigen 72-4 (CA72-4), CA19-9, and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), as well as quality of life (WHOQOL-100) score in the two groups were analyzed. Results The disease control rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the reference group (76.47% vs. 52.94%, P<0.05). After the treatment, the serum CD4+ and CD3+ levels were (32.19±2.18)% and (46.10±3.78)% in the experimental group, which were higher than those in the reference group (both P<0.05); the serum CD8+ level was (28.14±3.39) % in the experimental group, which was lower than that in the reference group (P<0.05); the serum levels of CA72-4, CA19-9, and CEA were (27.26±5.76) ng/ml, (52.17±7.86) ng/ml, (13.48±5.46) ng/ml, which were lower than those in the reference group (all P<0.05); and the WHOQOL-100 score was (80.26±7.87) in the experimental group, which was higher than that in the reference group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was lower in the experimental group than in the reference group (5.88% vs. 26.47%, P<0.05). Conclusion Yiqi Huoxue Recipe and SOX chemotherapy for Patients with stage III-IV gastric cancer has a clear clinical effect, can reduce their serum tumor marker levels and improve their immune function and quality of life, and is safe.
