Abstract

The present study attempts to vary the weld cooling rate by the use of water-cooled copper backing (so far not tried) by keeping the heat input constant. It also takes into account the Cr eq /Ni eq ratio. In the present study two austenitic stainless steel strips (0.5 mm thick), type 308 Cb and 309 Cb (Table I) were used.
