Abstract

Serum calcium, inorganic phosphorus and Ca×P products were estimated before and after haemodialysis in six uraemic patients without and six uraemic patients with vitamin D treatment [10 mg of vitamin D2 (Spofa) per week]. The values of both groups of patients were compared to each other and also to the normals. Vitamin D treatment increased the mean values of serum calcium, inorganic phosphorus and Ca×Pa product, but this increase was not significant. In one vitamin D treated patient hypercalcaemia developed. The changes of serum calcium, inorganic phosphorus and Ca×P product during dialysis were not influenced by vitamin D treatment.
