Abstract

A study has been made of the single stage amplifier characteristics of a complementary composite transistor in the common base configuration. The expressions for its current gain, voltage gain, input resistance and power gain have been developed by analysing the equivalent circuit in terms of the resistive parameters of the individual transistors. Further, the results obtained have been simplified by considering that the resistive parameters of both type of transistors at their different operating currents are the same. The effect of variation of load resistance on current gain, voltage gain, input resistance and power gain hove been investigated and are compared with that of a single transistor.
