Abstract
The formation of Y-CO 3 and Ba-CO 3 bonds observed in YBa 2Cu 3O x from a conventional ceramic method in an air or oxygen atmosphere was eliminated only after vacuum calcination and subsequent oxidation in a pure oxygen atmosphere. YBa 2Cu 3O x prepared by this heat treatment showed a sharp superconducting transition at around 92 K, which was the same as that observed in the sample made by using a conventional ceramic method. The temperature coefficient of electrical resistivity, R 100 R 300 = 0.27 , for this sample became smaller than those of 0.47 and 0.34 for YBa 2Cu 3O x prepared by the conventional ceramic method in air or oxygen atmosphere, respectively.
