Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of trimetazidine on heart function and heart rate variability in patients with old anterior wall myocardial infarction and heart failure. Methods Ninety-two patients with old anterior myocardial infarction and heart failure were randomly divided into TMZ group(n =46 cases) and control group (n =46 cases). The control group was given conventional anti-failure therapy; TMZ group was given trimetazidine (20 mg each time, three times a day) on the basis of the control group. These patients of the two groups were treated for 3 months.Indicators of left ventricular function, heart rate, blood pressure, heart rate variability index and drug adverse reactions were observed before and after treatment. Results Improvement of LVEDD,LVESD,LVEF in the TMZ group were significantly better than that before treatment and that of the control group (all P < 0.01) ; There was no difference in heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure of the patients before treatment and after treatment between the two groups(all P >0.05) ; The HRV indicators in both groups were significantly higher than that before treatment (P <0.05 or P <0.01) ; Improvement of the HRV indicators in the TMZ group were better than that the control group (P < 0.01) ; There was no obvious adverse reaction that TMZ group had taken trimetazidine. Conclusions Long-term use of trimetazidine in patients with old anterior myocardial infarction and heart failure can not only improve left ventricular function, but also improve heart rate variability, prevent cardiac arrhythmia, and does not affect heart rate and blood pressure, has high security. Key words: Old anterior wall myocardial infarction; Heart failure; Heart rate variability; Trimetazidine
