Abstract

Propiconazole (PRO) and hexaconazole (HEX), two significant plant growth regulators, were applied on Beet root plants to test their effect on photosynthetic pigments and biochemical concentration. Each plant was treated with 15mg L-1 PRO and 15 mg L-1 HEX by soil drenching on 30, 40 and 50 days after planting (DAP).Chlorophyll a, b and total chlorophyll content, carotenoid, protein, proline and Starch contents, were analysed from shoot and root on 40, 50 and 60 DAP. PRO and HEX applications increased the chlorophyll a, b and total chlorophyll, protein, proline and starch contents in beetroot. It can be concluded that, these compounds have beneficial effects on tuber plants other than their fungicidal actions.
