Abstract
ABSTRACT Comparative performance data on three types of small diameter agitated extraction columns were obtained with the toluene-acetone-water system. The York-Scheibel Column exhibited the highest number of theoretical stages per meter. The Karr Column had the highest throughput and volumetric efficiency. The RDC Column exhibited good performance with highly purified materials, but its performance deteriorated much more rapidly than the other columns in the presence of trace contaminants.
