Abstract

Granular particles exist widely in packaging field. The purpose of this paper is to research the effect of vibration on the particle jamming in the hopper. A new apparatus is developed independently to measure how the vibration influences the particles jamming in the hopper. The data acquired through the apparatus show that the friction between the particles is influenced by the vibration. With the amplitude increasing or the frequency decreasing, the friction between the particles decreases. With the friction decreasing, the particles jamming the hopper begin to slide out of the hopper. So, the increasing amplitude or the decreasing frequency are helpful to release the jamming of the particles in the hopper.
