Abstract

In a previous communication 1 the effect of substituents in C 6H 5CH 2OC 6H 4X ethers on the rate of thermolysis was reported and a correlation was shown between the rate constants of thermolysis and the Hammet constants of the substituents. Additional experiments have demonstrated that introduction of the substituents into the ring at the methylene group exerts a similar effect and introduction of the substituents into both rings produces an additive effect.
