Effect of the negative charge of heme propionate on photoinduced electron transfer between zinc myoglobin and methylviologen

Abstract

Zinc protoporphyrin dimethylester reconstituted myoglobin (ZnPPDME-Mb) was prepared and it was shown that photoinduced electron transfer took place with methylviologen. The quenching rate constant was 5.1 × 10 6 M −1 s −1, which was about one fifth that for the zinc protoporphyrin reconstituted myoglobin and methylviologen system.
