Abstract

1. 1. It has been established that the direction and selectivity of hydrogenation on a skeletal nickel catalyst depends on the nature of the solvent and the amount of catalyst. 2. 2. The activity of the catlyst in iso-ocatane, decalin, and dimethylformide is lower than methyl alcohol, but rises with an increase in the amount of catalyst. 3. 3. It has been found that an increase of the specific activity of the catalyst leads to an increase in the seclectivity of the process and an increase in the yield of the thermodynamically less stable olefin- pent-1-ene.
