Abstract

The effect of intraatomic absorption of the Lβ1 X-ray emission line of uranium was studied. To eliminate the effect of the LIII absorption edge on the chemical shift (δ) of the Lβ1 line, the dependence of δLβ1 on the oxygen index x in oxide systems of variable composition UO2+ x was determined indirectly. It was shown that, in the absence of the effect of the LIII absorption edge, the dependence of δLβ1 on x is ordinary and, as in the case of other hard emission lines of the uranium L series, can be described by a second-order polynomial. The abnormal dependence of δLβ1 on x is explained.
