Abstract

A mycosis of juvenile stages of the American lobster, Homarus americanus , is described. Symptoms of the disease are normally found in the gill and thoracic segments where host melanization occurs. The fungus, Haliphthoros milfordensis , causes tissue destruction and interferes with ecdysis. Similar pathology has been observed on the European lobster, Homarus gammarus .
