Abstract

This study investigates the introduction of multilayer graphene (MLG) to improve the tribological performance of ultra-coarse WC-Co cemented carbide. MLG refines the microstructure and improves density, hardness and fracture toughness. Analysis of the wear mechanisms indicates that abrasive wear dominates in ultra-coarse cemented carbides. The introduction of MLG through grain refinement, enhanced mechanical properties, and its intrinsic lubricating properties results in a reduction of the friction coefficient and the wear rate of the alloy, effectively improving the material's tribological performance.
