Abstract

The effect of temperature on the interaction between chemical vapor deposition SiC and GH3535 alloy in molten LiF-NaF-KF salt was investigated. Results indicate that temperature is critical to the interaction. At 500 and 600 °C, SiC and alloy did not interact with each other. The interaction happened at 650 °C and higher temperature by reactions among SiC, alloy, and their corrosion products. The corrosion products of alloy reacted with SiC to form Cr3C2, and the corrosion products of SiC reacted with Ni to form Ni31Si12 and Ni2Si on the surface of alloy. Depths of corrosion and deposition increased with temperature.
