Abstract
The method of x-ray electron spectroscopy is used for investigating the effect of preliminary treatment (ion bombardment, polishing, sintering with soluble glass, etching in an acid solution) on the composition and chemical state of elements in the surface layer of lead-silicate glasses and on the results of their heat treatment in hydrogen.
