Abstract

The influence of strychnine on behavior and on the Wulst EEG were studied in 43 young chicks aged 1–14 days after hatching and 8 adult hens. Strychnine spikes with large amplitude (1–2 mV.) in the Wulst EEG were found to be elicited by intraperitoneal injection of strychnine nitrate at doses of 5 to 10 mg./kg. body weight on conscious young and adult chickens under artificial respiration.
