Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of standardized pain nursing care on patients after surgery at department of general surgery. Methods 92 patients undergoing selective operation at the department of general surgery at our hospital were selected and divided into an observation group and a control group according to the hospitalization number's even or odd, 46 cases for each group. The control group received routine peri-operative care; in addition, the observation group were given standardized pain nursing care. The postoperative pain and quality of life were compared between these two groups. Results The general and strongest pain levels 24 h after operation were (4.1±1.7) and (6.5±2.2) in the observation group and were (5.2±1.8) and (7.8±2.5) in the control group (P<0.01) . The emotion, a change of position, cough / deep breathing, sleep etc. were better in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.01 or P<0.05). Conclusions Standardized pain nursing care can effectively alleviate the patients' pain and improve their quality of life and is of great significance, so it it worth being clinically generalized.
