Abstract

Mg–1 wt.%Mn–xwt.%Sr (MJ) alloys have been synthesized with Sr additions in the range of 0–1 wt.%. It was found that, compared to the Mg–1 wt.%Mn (M1) alloy, the overall texture intensity of basal poles is weakened for rolled as well as rolled-annealed MJ alloys containing 0.5 and 1.0 wt.%Sr. The texture weakening is attributed to particle-stimulated nucleation (PSN).
