Abstract

Electrical energy is one of the most important forms of energy, and the demand for this energy is constantly increasing. Distributed Generation (DG) systems are integrated into the power systems to meet this demand and support the utility in terms of renewable energy. It is very important to determine the best connection location of DG systems to analyze their effects on voltage stability. In this study, Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Generation systems that are one of the Renewable Distributed Generation (RDG) systems are integrated into the IEEE 30 bus test system. The optimal location of the solar PV generation system is determined by Continuous Power Flow (CPF) and Bus Voltage Stability Index <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$(\mathbf{VSI}_{\mathbf{bus}})$</tex> . The impact on the loading parameter and voltage stability of the power system has been investigated with different installed power of PV systems that are placed at the optimal location. Power system modeling and analyses have been performed with PSAT (Power System Analysis Toolbox) based MATLAB®/Simulink. The analyses have shown that PV systems that have appropriate installed power and are placed at optimal location(s) increase the loading parameter and improve the voltage stability.
