Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of refractive state on dry eye in children, and to explore the influencing factors and clinical characteristics of dry eye in children. Methods Take the clinical case-control study. A total of 450 cases of mild ametropic children (150 cases of mild myopia; 150 cases of mild hyperopia; mild astigmatism in 150 cases) and 150 cases of emmetropia were selected from October 2014 to March 2016 in Shenyang Fourth People's Hospital. The vision, diopter, main clinical symptoms, Schirmer Test, BUT (break-up time), FL (corneal fluorescein staining) and other clinical data were collected from the patients in each group. Results The main clinical symptoms of dry eye in children were frequent blinking. The incidence of dry eye in mild ametropic children xerophthalmia was higher than that of emmetropic children. The refractive group incidence of dry eye syndrome had significant differences. (χ2=30.475, P=0.000). The mild astigmatism group had the highest incidence, followed by mild hyperopic group. There were significant differences P 0.05) on Schirmer test and FL between two groups. Conclusions Children of mild refractive error and dry eye syndrome is closely related. Main and clinical expression is frequent eye blink, tear film stability decrease, BUT shorten. The influence of astigmatism and hyperopia on dry eye in children is obvious. Key words: Children; Refractive error; Dry eye
