Abstract

Degenerative changes in the histoarchitecture of kidneys of diabetic rats were observed. Methanolic extracts of Pterocarpus marsupium barks suppressed the serum glucose and blood urea levels and normalized the body-kidney weight ratio. Treatment with these extracts also improved the kidney antioxidant contents with a decrease in the thiobarbituric acid-reactive oxygen species and normalized the kidney histoarchitecture.
