Abstract
Serum prolactin was estimated in 9 women during termination of second trimester pregnancy with prostaglandin F 2α (PGF 2α). Administration of PGF 2α via the transcervical route was associated with a significant increase in serum prolactin. Termination of pregnancy with hypertonic saline or PGF 2α administered intra-amniotically was not associated with a rise in serum prolactin. There was no correlation between the concentration of serum prolactin and the presence or absence of lactation following termination.
