Abstract

Objective To analyze the effect of prolonging dialysis time on survival rate and quality of life in maintenance hemodialysis patients. Methods The patients who underwent maintenance hemodialysis in different periods were selected as the research objects. Among them, 42 patients with regular hemodialysis from July 2010 to June 2014 were classified as control group; 80 patients who underwent regular hemodialysis from July 2014 to October 2017 were assigned to the observation group. The 1-year survival rate, residual renal function (RRF), 24 h urine output and quality of life including sleep quality, health feeling, psychological status and pain perception were compared between the two groups. Results The 1-year survival rate was 97.5% in the observation group and 88.10% in the control group, the survival rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). In addition, the urine output, RRF and quality of life and other related indicators in the observation group were significantly better than those in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusions Appropriately prolonging the dialysis time is helpful to improve the survival rate of maintenance hemodialysis patients, delay the RRF and improve the quality of life, which is worth to be popularized. Key words: Dialysis time; Maintenance hemodialysis; Survival rate; Residual renal function; Quality of life
