Abstract

Abrasive flow machining (AFM) is an advanced manufacturing process. However, the efficiency of this process in terms of material removal rate and surface finish is depends upon the selection of key parameters. Hence the aim of this review paper is to give basic information regarding principle of AFM, classifications (one way, two way, multi-way and orbital AFM), and effects of processing parameters (machine/workpiece/media based parameters) on the performance of AFM. Further, various application area (aerospace, automotive, die and mold, medical, manufacturing industries etc.) of AFM are discussed. Hence, this manuscript will become useful for the futuristic researchers working in the field of AFM.
