Abstract

The paper considers a solution to the problem of determining the stress state of a flat metal plate having a round opening moulded with a reinforced polymer coating. To obtain the solution, methods of the theory of elasticity were used, in particular, the method of complex potentials. The opening with the reinforced polymer is presented as an elastic insert placed into the plate without interference. The plate is under uniaxial tensile stresses. The calculated dependences for normal and tangential stresses are obtained. The polar coordinate system is applied. The effect of the thickness of the reinforced polymer coating on the stress concentration coefficient near the round opening is investigated. A significant decrease in the concentration coefficient with increasing coating thickness is shown.
