Abstract

Cobalt titanate (CoTiO3) nanostructures were synthesized in the form of nanoparticles and nanofibers by sol–gel and electrospinning techniques respectively. The effective photocatalytic activities of CoTiO3 nanofibers have been experimentally demonstrated in comparison with CoTiO3 nanoparticles. Their structural analysis was confirmed using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) technique which revealed that the synthesized CoTiO3 nanostructures possessed rhombohedral crystal structure. The morphological and optical properties of the synthesized nanostructured materials were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and UV–Visible Diffused Reflectance Spectroscopy (UV-DRS). The photocatalytic dye degradation test performed using Methylene Blue (MB) under visible light ambience showcased an enhanced degradation rate for CoTiO3 nanofibers when compared with CoTiO3 nanoparticles.
