Abstract

In the present paper, the results of tests on the effect of a paper electrode coating on the electric strength of transformer oil in a non - uniform electric field are presented. The measurements were carried out in oils of different degress of purity in the cylinder - plate electrode system / the cylinder electrode was coated with kraft crête paper/. Use was made of alternating voltage 50 Hz and impulse voltage imitating switching overvoltage, the electrode gaps being 10 – 40 mm and coating thickness 1 – 12 mm. On the basis of photographic recordings, also the effect of the electrode coating on the behaviour of impurities /cellulose fibres/ in oil in an alternating electric field has been shown.
